Kara King

Candidate for U.S. Congress, Texas 10th District | Mayor of Bee Cave, Texas

Kara King currently serves as Mayor of Bee Cave, Texas, a role she first assumed in May 2020 after seven years on the Bee Cave City Council.  Prior to public service, she taught life science at Bee Cave Middle School, bringing her background in education and science into community leadership. 

Born into a military family and raised with strong values of service and patriotism, Kara holds a degree in Biomedical Science from Texas A&M University (class of 1998).  She and her husband, Ben (a former Marine Corps pilot), met at A&M, and today are raising three children in Bee Cave. 

As Mayor, Kara has championed responsible growth, fiscal discipline, and preservation of Bee Cave’s Hill Country character. Under her stewardship, the city has achieved significant milestones such as certification as an International Dark Sky Community to protect night skies and local ecosystems.  She has emphasized balanced development that respects the city’s quality of life, supported historic preservation initiatives, and taken active roles in economic development and budgeting.  In 2025, she was sworn into her third term as mayor.

Kara is now running for the U.S. House of Representatives in Texas’s 10th Congressional District. She is putting forward a bold, conservative, America-First platform with a resolute mission:

• Putting America First
  
  Kara believes in a strong, sovereign United States that prioritizes national security, upholds the rule of law, and defends the Constitution. She will seek to strengthen border security, enforce immigration laws, and limit federal overreach, ensuring that Washington serves, not controls, the people.
  
  

• Bringing Jobs Back to America
  
  With unfair trade deals hollowing out key industries, Kara will champion pro-manufacturing and pro-small-business policies aimed at incentivizing companies to bring jobs home. She will support tax reform, regulatory relief, and targeted incentives that reward American production, protect domestic supply chains, and spur job creation in Texas and across the nation.
  
  

• Reviving Economic Growth
  
  Kara will advocate for fiscally responsible policies that shrink government, eliminate wasteful spending, and allow the free market to flourish. She supports fundamental reforms to reduce the tax burden, simplify the tax code, and cut unnecessary regulations. She believes that empowered individuals and entrepreneurs—not big government—are the true engines of economic growth.

  Rooted in her experience as a city mayor, Kara understands that local communities know best what solutions they need. In Congress, she pledges to defend states’ rights and push decision-making down to citizens and local leaders whenever possible.
